YOUR OPPORTUNITY Trade Queensland works to support trade and economic development in Queensland that will secure growth and employment. Trade Queensland is the Queensland Government’s lead agency in relation to supporting Queensland’s international trade and export efforts as well as its international relationships.
The Queensland Government’s global network of Trade Queensland offices identify business opportunities in overseas markets and encourage investment in Queensland. The offices maintain and develop relationships with other governments and businesses in their market and coordinate activities to promote Queensland exports, enhance trade and attract investment and intellectual capital to Queensland.
As the Senior Marketing Officer within Trade Queensland’s Europe office, your role is to promote and support Queensland industry and organisations in trade and investment opportunities across a range of industries in the UK and Europe.
THE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION (DEEDI) DEEDI brings together core functions focused on employment, innovation, industry development, primary industries and fisheries, trade and investment, biosecurity, minerals, petroleum and gas, energy, tourism, rural and regional development, fair trading, liquor licensing, gaming and racing.
DEEDI is responsible for driving and delivering a strong economy for all Queenslanders, the Department will drive job creation, create an investment climate that supports sustainable economic and industry development across Queensland and develop and implement trade initiatives and opportunities for Queensland business.
DEEDI will also manage and support the sustainable development of the state’s productive industries and effective and efficient regulation in areas of departmental responsibility to ensure continued business and consumer confidence.
KEY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES You will: • Identify trade and investment opportunities in the UK and Europe through research, analysis and the utilisation of networks and allies. • Develop and implement business development strategies for priority industry sectors. • Assist Queensland exporters to access the UK and European markets by providing them with market intelligence and advising on trade opportunities, introducing them to potential customers and developing in-market visit programs. • Support Queensland trade and investment efforts by organising and participating in business missions, seminars and trade exhibitions while also developing in-market strategic contacts and allies that can assist Queensland exporters. • Liaise with Queensland Government departments, overseas government agencies, trade and investment offices and industry organisations to exchange information on markets, industry sectors and companies. • Undertake research and prepare written reports assessing opportunities for Queensland exporters to achieve sales in the UK and Europe. • Assist the development and organisation of visits by Queensland Ministers, Government and private sector representatives . • Undertake administrative and reporting activities including coordination of achievement reports, acting as first point of contact for enquiries, and maintaining the office’s stakeholder database. • Manage Skilled and Business Migration attraction activities in the UK including organising and participating in migration exhibitions and seminars and responding to telephone enquiries regarding migration to Queensland.
KEY CAPABILITIES To determine your suitability for the role, you will be assessed on the following key capabilities that link to the “key duties and accountabilities” for this role: • Experience of the UK, and/or European cultural and business environment. • Knowledge of the Queensland economic, trade, investment and business environment • Demonstrated ability to develop marketing plans and demonstrated business development skills to achieve trade and investment outcomes. • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member, develop networks and productive working relationships, consult and negotiate with a variety of clients and allies. • Ability to provide a high standard of client service and manage multiple projects to deadlines and within budget.
